Shoot the selfie where the party is
The video is made from one still photo, so the background of your selfie becomes the room the ghost comes out of. Take it a day early in the party room itself: the hallway, the kitchen doorway or the corner by the stairs. Leave some dark space behind your shoulder, keep your face clear and smile as if nothing is wrong. When guests watch the video later, they recognise the doorway they just walked past.
Two scares, two jobs
Slow creep ends with the ghost cheek to cheek with you, staring into the lens. It is creepy rather than loud, so it works on a muted loop on a TV in the corner; people notice it one by one and start pointing.
Sudden lunge has the same build-up, then the ghost snaps at the camera near the end. Use it once, with the sound up. Each video is 10 seconds, so make one of each if you want both: one video is $4.99, three are $12.99.
Running the reveal
- Make it before the party Generate the video the day before. It is ready in a few minutes, and you can watch it calmly before anyone else does.
- Set up screen and sound Put the MP4 on a laptop or stick connected to the TV and test the volume once. A phone speaker loses the low hum.
- Pick the moment Dim the lights, say you want to show everyone a new selfie filter and press play. Stand next to the screen so people look from you to the video.
- Tell them straight after Once the laugh comes, say it is AI and show how it was made. Nobody should go home wondering.
Who should not be in the room
A jump scare on a big screen reaches everyone at once, including people you did not mean to prank. Send children to another room or skip Sudden lunge entirely when they are around; when the original ghost filter spread in 2022, many clips showed small children being frightened, and therapists criticised it. Leave out guests with a heart condition, anxiety or panic attacks, and anyone who has asked not to be scared. If you are not sure, play Slow creep and turn the sound down.
Sending it on after the party
Friends who could not come can get the video by message the next day; a short line like “you missed this at the party” is enough. If you film the room reacting, ask the people in the clip before you post it. Label the ghost video as AI-generated where the platform asks, and only post selfies of adults who agreed to be in it.
